Built for demanding commercial applications, this 30-amp single-pole breaker ensures continuous circuit safety. It utilizes proven thermal-magnetic trip technology to handle standard overcurrent events. Designed for seamless integration, it bolts into Challenger, Westinghouse, and Eaton BAB panelboards. Facility managers can use this unit to replace the BAB1030, maintaining compliance without full system overhauls. With a 10kAIC rating at 120VAC, it provides robust fault clearing capabilities.
Can the Challenger BQ1C030 be used as a direct replacement for the Eaton BAB1030?
Yes, the BQ1C030 serves as a direct replacement for the BAB1030. Both are 30A, single-pole, bolt-on breakers that mount into the same Eaton, Challenger, and Westinghouse panelboards.
Will the BQ1C030 fit in standard plug-in load centers?
No, the BQ1C030 is a bolt-on circuit breaker designed specifically for commercial Challenger, Westinghouse, and Eaton BAB panelboards. It will not fit in residential load centers that require plug-in breakers.
How does the BQ1C030 mount to the panelboard bus?
This breaker utilizes a bolt-on mounting configuration. It fastens directly to the panelboard bus with a screw, providing a secure mechanical and electrical connection.
What wire gauge range is accepted by the terminal lugs on the BQ1C030?
The lugs are designed to accept wire sizes from 14 AWG to 8 AWG. Ensure the wire size selected meets the NEC requirements for a 30A circuit.
How does the thermal magnetic trip unit function on the BQ1C030?
The thermal magnetic trip unit provides dual protection. The thermal element provides long-time protection by responding to sustained overloads, while the magnetic element provides instantaneous protection by tripping the breaker immediately during a short circuit.
What does the 10kAIC rating mean for panelboard safety?
The 10kAIC rating indicates that the breaker can safely interrupt up to 10,000 amps of fault current at 120VAC. You must verify that the available fault current at the panelboard does not exceed this value to ensure safe operation.
