Built for dependable branch circuit protection, this 30A single-pole breaker is part of the Siemens BLH series. It delivers consistent thermal-magnetic tripping for commercial and industrial electrical systems. Designed specifically for bolt-on applications, the unit installs into Siemens P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. The breaker includes load side lugs that accommodate a wide range of wire gauges. With a 22kAIC interrupting rating at 120/240VAC, it offers enhanced fault clearing capabilities.
Which electrical panelboards will accept the B130H breaker?
This bolt-on circuit breaker is designed exclusively for Siemens commercial P1, P2, and P3 panelboards. It fastens directly to the bus bars with screws and cannot be used in residential plug-on load centers.
Can I use this 1-pole breaker for 277V lighting circuits?
No. The B130H (Type BLH) is strictly rated for a maximum of 120/240VAC. If you are wiring 277V commercial circuits within a Siemens P1, P2, or P3 panelboard, you must specify a breaker series rated for the higher voltage, such as the BQD frame.
Are there direct replacements with different interrupting ratings for the B130H?
Yes. If your electrical system requires a different fault rating, the Siemens B130 (Type BL) provides a standard 10kAIC rating. For systems demanding maximum short-circuit protection, the Siemens B130HH (Type HBL) offers a 65kAIC rating.
Can the B130H serve as a replacement for older ITE brand breakers?
Yes. Siemens acquired the ITE electrical line and maintained the original catalog numbers and physical breaker dimensions. A new Siemens B130H is a direct, UL-listed replacement for a vintage ITE B130H.
Are separate terminal lugs required when installing aluminum wire?
No. The factory-installed load side lug is dual-rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. You can terminate 14 to 6 AWG copper wire or 12 to 6 AWG aluminum wire directly into the standard lug without requiring adapters.
What is the advantage of the bolt-on connection compared to plug-on designs?
Bolt-on connections provide a highly secure, mechanically rigid mount that resists vibration and thermal expansion. This ensures reliable bus contact in heavy-duty commercial and industrial environments, preventing arcing and connection degradation over time.
What specific protection is provided by the thermal-magnetic trip unit?
The thermal element provides long-time delay protection against sustained overloads, allowing temporary harmless surges but tripping before wires overheat. The fixed magnetic element provides instantaneous tripping to immediately disconnect power during severe short circuits.
Can I adjust the trip settings on the B130H breaker?
No. Both the thermal (overload) and magnetic (short circuit) trip points are factory set and fully fixed. If your application requires adjustable trip settings, you will need to utilize a larger frame electronic trip circuit breaker.
