Part of the legacy Pushmatic line, the P150 is a 50A single-pole breaker built for residential and commercial use. It utilizes a distinctive push-button mechanism rather than a standard toggle for clear visual status. This bolt-on unit mounts into load centers originally manufactured by Bulldog, Gould, ITE, and Siemens. Rated for 10kAIC at 120VAC, it features fixed thermal-magnetic trip technology to deliver dependable defense against overloads and short circuits.
Does the Siemens P150 replace older Bulldog and ITE P150 breakers?
Yes, the Siemens P150 is a direct replacement for the P150 catalog number previously manufactured by Bulldog, ITE, and Gould. It features the same physical dimensions and bolt-on mounting design to fit existing Pushmatic load centers.
How do I operate and reset a Pushmatic circuit breaker?
Pushmatic breakers use a push-button mechanism rather than a standard toggle switch. You press the rectangular button to turn the circuit on or off. To reset a tripped breaker, push the button to the off position, then push it again to turn it back on.
How can I tell if the P150 breaker has tripped?
Pushmatic breakers feature a small indicator flag window on the front of the unit. Because they do not have a toggle handle that moves to a center tripped position, you must check this window to verify if the breaker is in the ON or OFF state.
Why do older Pushmatic breakers become stiff or difficult to push?
The internal push-button mechanisms in original Pushmatic breakers rely on dielectric grease. Over decades of use and thermal cycling, this grease can dry out and harden, causing the mechanical linkages to bind. If a breaker becomes stiff or fails to trip smoothly, it must be replaced to maintain proper circuit protection.
How does the P150 breaker mount into the load center?
The P150 is a bolt-on breaker that secures directly to the panel bus using a screw. It does not snap or plug into place like modern residential breakers. Ensure the panel bus is de-energized before bolting the breaker into the load center.
