Providing robust overcurrent defense, the Square D FH16025A is a 1-pole, 25A molded case circuit breaker. It employs fixed long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions to protect commercial and industrial electrical systems from damaging faults. This legacy breaker installs into Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards using a factory-set Phase A connection. It acts as an exact replacement for aging F-Frame installations, though the PowerPact B-Frame (BGA14025) now supersedes it.
Can the FH16025A be installed in a standard Square D QO or NQ panelboard?
No. This breaker features an I-Line style plug-in connection and is exclusively compatible with Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in QO, Homeline, NQ, or NF panels.
What is the modern PowerPact replacement for the FH16025A?
The Square D F-frame series is a legacy product line. The direct modern equivalent is the PowerPact B-Frame series, specifically catalog number BGA14025, which supersedes the FH16025A while maintaining I-Line compatibility.
Does this breaker require a bolt-on connection to the busbar?
No. The FH16025A utilizes the Square D I-Line plug-in design. The line side features a jaw that presses directly onto the panelboard bus, allowing for faster installation compared to traditional bolt-on breakers.
What does the A at the end of the FH16025A catalog number indicate?
The A suffix indicates that this 1-pole breaker is factory configured to connect to the A-phase of the I-Line panelboard bus. If you need to connect to the B or C phase, you must order the specific breaker configured for that phase.
Are the thermal-magnetic trip settings adjustable on this model?
No. The FH16025A features fixed long-time and fixed instantaneous (LI) trip functions. If you require adjustable trip settings, you will need to upgrade to a compatible PowerPact breaker with an electronic trip unit.
Is it safe to install this breaker while the I-Line panel is energized?
While I-Line panelboards are designed for modularity, installing or removing circuit breakers should only be performed by a licensed electrician after the panel has been properly de-energized and locked out according to OSHA and NFPA 70E safety standards.
