What type of panelboards accept the NEJ231150 circuit breaker?
This unit is designed exclusively for legacy Federal Pacific commercial panelboards that accommodate N-frame bolt-on circuit breakers. It will not fit modern panels from other manufacturers.
Can this breaker replace a UBINEJ231150?
Yes, the NEJ231150 serves as a direct replacement for UBINEJ231150 models used in older Federal Pacific electrical systems.
How is this circuit breaker installed into the electrical system?
It utilizes a bolt-on mounting configuration, meaning it must be mechanically fastened directly to the bus bars of a compatible Federal Pacific panelboard.
What wire sizes and materials are compatible with the terminals?
The load side lugs are rated to accept either aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 4 AWG up to 300 kcmil.
What type of protection does the thermal-magnetic trip unit provide?
The fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit delivers long-time protection against sustained overloads and instantaneous protection against short circuits.
Can this breaker be used in direct current applications?
No, this molded case circuit breaker is strictly rated for alternating current (AC) systems up to 240V.
Are there special safety considerations when installing breakers in legacy Federal Pacific panels?
Because Federal Pacific equipment is obsolete, the overall condition of the panelboard bus bars and insulation should be thoroughly inspected by a licensed electrician prior to installing a replacement breaker.
