Built for demanding industrial applications requiring ground fault protection, this 150A PowerPacT H-Frame breaker utilizes a Micrologic 6.2A trip unit. The advanced microprocessor enables adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground fault (LSIG) settings alongside an integrated ammeter. It installs seamlessly into Square D I-Line switchboards and panelboards, providing a modern, current-limiting replacement for legacy KH36150 breakers with 65kAIC at 480VAC.
Can the HJA36150U44X be used to replace obsolete Square D FA or FH frame I-Line breakers?
Yes. The PowerPacT H-frame shares the same 4.5-inch I-Line bus spacing and physical footprint as the legacy FA and FH frames, making it a direct upgrade for older I-Line panelboards.
What does the U44X suffix designate in the HJA36150U44X catalog number?
The U44X indicates the breaker is equipped with a Micrologic 6.2A electronic trip unit. This provides adjustable LSIG (Long-time, Short-time, Instantaneous, Ground-fault) overcurrent protection and includes an integrated ammeter for current monitoring.
What is the difference between the HJA36150U44X and the HJA36150U33X?
While both are 150A, 3-pole I-Line breakers, the HJA36150U44X features a Micrologic 6.2A trip unit with LSIG protection and an ammeter. The HJA36150U33X has a Micrologic 3.2S trip unit, which offers LSI protection but lacks the ground-fault function and ammeter.
What is required to use the ground-fault protection on a 3-phase, 4-wire system?
To properly detect ground faults on a 4-wire system, an external neutral current transformer (CT) must be installed on the neutral bus and wired back to the Micrologic trip unit.
How does this breaker connect to the power system?
The line side uses an I-Line style plug-in connection that snaps directly onto the panelboard bus, while the load side uses mechanical lugs that accept 14 AWG to 3/0 AWG aluminum or copper wire.
What does the J in the HJA frame designation mean?
The J indicates the specific interrupting capacity tier of this PowerPacT breaker. It is rated to safely clear faults up to 100kA at 240V, 65kA at 480V, and 25kA at 600V.
Do the Micrologic trip unit dials come pre-configured for my specific panel?
No. The electronic trip settings for long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection must be properly adjusted in the field by a qualified professional to match your facility coordination study.
