Product FAQs
6 answers
Does the SFPA36AT0250 require a rating plug to operate?
Yes, all Spectra RMS circuit breakers require a front-mounted rating plug to establish the continuous ampere rating. The breaker will not provide proper protection without a compatible rating plug installed.
Which rating plug series is compatible with this 250A Spectra RMS frame?
The SFPA36AT0250 accepts GE SRPF250A series interchangeable rating plugs. You must select the specific plug that matches your load requirements up to the 250A maximum limit of the breaker frame.
What settings are adjustable on the LSI electronic trip unit?
The digital solid-state LSI trip unit allows you to adjust the Short-Time and Instantaneous trip points for precise system coordination. The Long-Time pickup is fixed based on the specific rating plug inserted into the breaker.
What is the standard lug kit for the SFPA36AT0250?
The standard mechanical lug kit is the TCAL29. This set accommodates aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 8 AWG through 350 kcmil.
Is the GE Spectra RMS series still being manufactured?
ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions and has phased out the Spectra RMS line. This specific breaker is typically sourced as a direct replacement for existing switchboards and panelboards that already utilize the SF frame.
How does the true RMS sensing improve safety in this breaker?
The solid-state trip unit digitally samples the current to determine the true RMS value of both sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal waveforms. This provides accurate overload protection and prevents nuisance tripping in environments with high harmonic distortion.
