What load centers are compatible with the Federal Pacific 3P35 circuit breaker?
The 3P35 is designed exclusively for use in Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok load centers and panelboards. It features a plug-on mounting style specific to the Stab-Lok bus design.
Is there a modern replacement for the obsolete Federal Pacific NA335 or 3P35 breaker?
Yes, Connecticut Electric manufactures aftermarket replacement breakers for FPE Stab-Lok panels. The direct replacement for the 35-amp, 3-pole NA335 or 3P35 is the UBI model UBIF335N.
What wire sizes can be used with the 3P35 circuit breaker?
The lug terminals on the 3P35 accept copper or aluminum wiring ranging from 8 AWG to 2 AWG. Always verify the appropriate wire gauge for your specific 35-amp load and local electrical codes.
Are the NA335 and 3P35 the same circuit breaker?
Yes, NA335 and 3P35 are alternate catalog numbers for the exact same Federal Pacific 3-pole, 35-amp Stab-Lok circuit breaker. They share the same physical dimensions, plug-on connection, and electrical ratings.
Are there safety concerns associated with Federal Pacific Stab-Lok breakers?
Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok panels and breakers have a documented history of failing to trip during overcurrent or short-circuit conditions. Many electricians and inspectors recommend replacing the entire panel rather than installing replacement breakers. Consult a licensed professional to evaluate your specific installation.
What type of trip mechanism does the Federal Pacific NA335 use?
The NA335 utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. It provides a long-time delay for standard overloads and an instantaneous trip function to quickly clear short circuits.
