Designed for commercial power distribution, the Eaton EHD3050 is a 3-pole, 50A molded case circuit breaker. It provides dependable thermal-magnetic protection for branch circuits. This bolt-on unit mounts into Eaton Series C panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers. It replaces older EH3050 models and can be upgraded to the PDG23F0050TFFL. Rated 14 kAIC at 480VAC, it delivers robust fault protection. The breaker is HACR and HID rated, and supports reverse feed capabilities.
Will the EHD3050 replace an older Westinghouse EHD3050 or EH3050 circuit breaker?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and the legacy Westinghouse distribution equipment lines. The current EHD3050 is a direct physical and electrical replacement for legacy Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer breakers with the EHD3050 or EH3050 catalog numbers.
Which panelboards accept this F-frame breaker?
This breaker bolts directly into Eaton Series C panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers. It will also fit into legacy Cutler-Hammer and Westinghouse gear designed to accept F-frame bolt-on breakers.
What is the difference between an Eaton EHD, FD, and HFD breaker?
While all three are Series C F-frame breakers with the same physical dimensions, they have different short-circuit interrupting ratings. EHD provides standard interrupting capacity, FD offers high interrupting capacity, and HFD provides extremely high interrupting capacity for locations with higher available fault currents.
Are the terminal lugs included with this breaker?
Yes, standard pressure line and load terminals are included. These lugs will accommodate copper or aluminum wire sizes ranging from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG.
Is the EHD3050 suitable for reverse feed applications?
Yes. Eaton Series C F-frame breakers do not have line and load restrictions and are suitable for reverse feed or backfeed applications. Always verify local electrical codes before installing a backfed main.
Can I adjust the trip settings on this 50A breaker?
No. This breaker features a non-interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time thermal limit and the instantaneous magnetic trip threshold are fixed at the factory.
Is this breaker rated for HVAC equipment?
Yes, Eaton Series C F-frame circuit breakers carry a HACR rating, making them suitable for use as disconnecting means for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Can this breaker be used to switch High Intensity Discharge lighting?
Yes. Eaton specifies that all F-frame circuit breakers rated from 10 to 50 amps are fully suitable for switching High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting circuits.
