Product FAQs
6 answers
Which load centers are compatible with the Federal Pacific 3P20 circuit breaker?
The 3P20 is designed exclusively for use in legacy Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers and panelboards. It features a proprietary plug-on design that will not fit in standard panels from other manufacturers.
What is the aftermarket cross-reference for the Federal Pacific NA320?
The Connecticut Electric UBIF320N serves as a direct aftermarket replacement for the original Federal Pacific NA320 (3P20) circuit breaker, fitting the same Stab-Lok panel slots.
What wire sizes and materials are accepted by the lugs on the 3P20 breaker?
The terminal lugs on this breaker accept both copper and aluminum wiring ranging from 14 AWG to 2 AWG. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation to maintain a secure connection.
Are there specific safety considerations when replacing breakers in a Stab-Lok panel?
Yes. Legacy Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels have a documented history of safety issues, including breakers failing to trip during overloads. A licensed electrician should thoroughly inspect the panel's busbar and overall condition before installing replacement components like the 3P20.
How does the trip mechanism function on the Federal Pacific 3P20?
This breaker utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The thermal component provides long-time protection against sustained overloads, while the magnetic component offers instantaneous protection against short circuits.
Does the NA320 require bolt-on hardware for installation?
No. The NA320 (3P20) utilizes a plug-in connection type specific to the Stab-Lok system, allowing it to snap directly onto the panel busbar without mounting screws or bolts.
