Built for commercial applications, the Federal Pacific NE234060SEJ3 is a 60A, three-pole molded case circuit breaker suitable for reverse feed configurations. This legacy N-frame component installs into classic Federal Pacific NE panelboards, providing an exact fit for aging infrastructure without requiring adapter kits. Rated for 18kAIC at 240VAC, this model includes a factory-installed shunt trip accessory for remote tripping capabilities in emergency shutdown circuits.
Which panelboards accept the NE234060SEJ3 circuit breaker?
This N-frame breaker is specifically designed for bolt-on installation in classic Federal Pacific NE panelboards. It mounts directly to the bus without requiring aftermarket modification plates, ensuring a proper and code-compliant fit.
What wire gauge range is supported by the terminals on this breaker?
The included load-side lugs accept copper or aluminum wire sizes from 14 AWG up to 1/0 AWG, providing flexibility for various 60A circuit runs and voltage drop considerations.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit on the NE234060SEJ3 operate?
The fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit provides dual protection. The long-time thermal function prevents overheating from sustained overloads, while the instantaneous magnetic function quickly clears severe short circuits.
Are Federal Pacific NE-frame breakers still in production?
Original Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) equipment is obsolete and no longer manufactured. The NE234060SEJ3 is sourced as an exact replacement to safely maintain and service existing FPE infrastructure without needing a full panel upgrade.
What are the benefits of the bolt-on connection for the NE234060SEJ3?
This breaker utilizes a bolt-on connection that fastens directly to the panelboard bus. This method provides a highly secure, vibration-resistant mechanical and electrical connection that is ideal for demanding commercial and industrial environments.
What is the maximum fault current this breaker can safely interrupt?
The NE234060SEJ3 has a maximum interrupting capacity of 18,000 Amps (18kAIC) at 240VAC, and 5,000 Amps (5kAIC) at 250VDC. This rating indicates the highest fault current the breaker can clear without sustaining damage.
Can the NE234060SEJ3 be used for reverse feed applications?
Yes, Federal Pacific NE-frame thermal-magnetic breakers are generally suitable for reverse feed applications. This allows for versatile installation when configuring main breaker or subpanel setups, provided local codes are followed.
