Built for heavy-duty industrial environments, this 500-amp molded case circuit breaker delivers robust overcurrent protection. The three-pole device features a durable bolt-on connection for secure integration. Designed to maintain existing infrastructure, it mounts into classic Federal Pacific NM panelboards and switchboards. This exact-fit replacement eliminates the need for complex retrofitting.
Which panelboards and switchgear accept the Federal Pacific NM632500?
This N-frame breaker is a direct fit for legacy Federal Pacific NM panelboards and switchboards. It is used to safely restore power in existing FPE commercial and industrial infrastructure without requiring a full system retrofit.
What is the lug wire capacity for the NM632500 breaker?
The factory lugs are configured to accept two conductors per phase, accommodating wire sizes from 3/0 AWG up to 600 kcmil. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation for secure bolt-on connections.
Can the trip settings on the NM632500 be adjusted in the field?
No, the NM632500 features a non-interchangeable, fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time (overload) and instantaneous (short-circuit) trip functions are factory-set and cannot be adjusted by the installer.
Is the Federal Pacific NM632500 still in active production?
No, Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) is no longer in business, making the NM632500 an obsolete legacy component. However, exact replacements remain available to service and maintain existing FPE commercial switchgear without requiring a complete panel upgrade.
Does the NM632500 have the same safety concerns as FPE Stab-Lok breakers?
The NM632500 is a commercial-grade, bolt-on N-frame molded case circuit breaker. This is a completely different design from the residential FPE Stab-Lok plug-on breakers that are commonly associated with safety controversies. As with any legacy electrical equipment, it should be evaluated and installed by a qualified professional.
Can the NM632500 be applied on a 480V system with 35kA available fault current?
No. The NM632500 has a maximum interrupting rating of 30kA at 480VAC. It must not be installed in systems where the available fault current exceeds this threshold unless properly protected by an upstream device with a verified series rating.
