Product FAQs
6 answers
Which load centers are compatible with the Siemens EP3175?
This 3-pole main breaker is designed for use in Siemens EQ III, PL Series, and ES Series load centers. Always verify your specific panel's interior label to confirm it accepts EP frame breakers before installation.
Does the Siemens EP3175 replace legacy Murray breakers?
Yes. Siemens acquired the Murray brand, and the Siemens EP3175 serves as a direct, UL-listed replacement for the legacy Murray EP3175 circuit breaker.
Can I install the EP3175 in a panel from another manufacturer like GE or Eaton?
No. The EP3175 is specifically engineered for Siemens and legacy Murray panels. Installing it in a panel from another brand violates UL listings and can create severe electrical hazards.
Is the EP3175 suitable for single-phase residential panels?
No. The EP3175 is a 3-pole breaker designed exclusively for 3-phase electrical systems. It will not fit or function correctly in a standard single-phase load center.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip unit operate on the EP3175?
The EP3175 features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The long-time (thermal) function prevents overheating from sustained overloads, while the instantaneous (magnetic) function immediately clears severe short circuits.
How is the Siemens EP3175 installed into the load center?
As a plug-on main breaker, the EP3175 snaps directly onto the panel's bus bar. Ensure the bus bar is in good physical condition and free of pitting or corrosion before seating the breaker.
