Product FAQs
6 answers
What panels are compatible with the BJA36080 breaker?
This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit in standard QO, NQ, or NEMA style load centers.
Can I use the BJA36080 to replace an older FA or FH series breaker?
Yes. The PowerPacT B-Frame is the direct replacement for legacy F-Frame I-Line breakers. It maintains the exact same 1.5 inch per pole spacing, allowing it to drop directly into existing I-Line panelboard slots without modifications or filler plates.
How does the I-Line connection physically mount in the panel?
The line side of the breaker features shrouded, plug-on jaws that clamp directly onto the I-Line busbar system (ABC phase sequence). The load side uses standard mechanical lugs for your wire terminations.
What are the lug torque specifications for the load side terminals?
For 14 to 10 AWG wire, torque the lugs to 31.9 to 38.9 lb-in (3.6 to 4.4 N.m). For 8 to 2/0 AWG wire, tighten to 44.3 to 54.9 lb-in (5.0 to 6.2 N.m).
What does the LI trip function code mean on this breaker?
The LI designation indicates that the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides fixed Long-Time (overload) and fixed Instantaneous (short-circuit) protection. Neither trip threshold is field adjustable on this model.
What is the continuous current rating for this B-Frame breaker?
This model is standard-rated for 80 percent continuous operation. To ensure safety and prevent nuisance tripping, continuous loads should not exceed 64 amps (80 percent of the 80A nameplate rating) for three hours or more.
