This is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker. It is designed for use in industrial control panels, switchboards, and dedicated PowerPacT H-Frame enclosures. It is not compatible with I-Line panelboards.
What is the difference between the HDL36040 and the HGL36040?
The difference is the interrupting rating. The HDL36040 has a D interrupting level of 18kAIC at 480VAC, while the HGL36040 has a G interrupting level of 35kAIC at 480VAC. Both share the same physical dimensions and 40A trip curve.
Can the HDL36040 be reverse fed?
Yes. Standard unit-mount PowerPacT H-Frame circuit breakers with thermal magnetic trip units are suitable for reverse feeding.
What is the lug torque specification for the HDL36040?
The standard AL150HD lugs require 44 lbf-in (5 N.m) for 14 to 10 AWG wire, and 124 lbf-in (14 N.m) for 8 to 3/0 AWG wire.
Is the HDL36040 rated for DC voltage?
Yes, this breaker is rated for use in DC systems up to 250VDC, where it provides a 20kA interrupting rating.
Does the HDL36040 provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No. This breaker features a standard thermal magnetic trip unit (LI) for overload and short circuit protection. It does not provide ground fault or arc fault protection.
Can I replace an older Square D F-frame breaker with the HDL36040?
The PowerPacT H-Frame is the modern successor to legacy Square D F-Frame (FAL or FHL) breakers. However, because the physical dimensions and mounting footprints differ, panel modifications or adapter kits may be required when retrofitting.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
Orders being shipped via Next Day Air, 2 Day Shipping or 3 Day Shipping must be received by 3 PM EST to guarantee same-day shipments. Expedited orders only ship on normal business days. Shipments will NOT be sent out on Saturdays and Sundays.
