Built for wet and damp locations, this 40A GFCI breaker delivers 5mA personnel protection for residential and commercial electrical systems. The advanced hydraulic-magnetic trip technology provides highly accurate overcurrent responses regardless of ambient temperature. Mounts into Leviton load centers using an efficient all-plug-on design. Note that this specific model has been replaced by the updated LB240-G series for new installations. Features a 10kAIC rating and LED status indicators.
Which electrical panels are compatible with the Leviton LB240-GF circuit breaker?
This breaker is designed exclusively for use in Leviton Load Centers. It is not interchangeable with other brands or panel types.
Does the LB240-GF require a pigtail connection for the neutral wire?
No, this breaker features a plug-on neutral design. It connects directly to the neutral bus bar in a Leviton Load Center, eliminating the need for a traditional pigtail wire and saving gutter space.
What happens if the ground-fault protection on the LB240-GF is compromised?
This breaker features a patented reset lockout mechanism. If the internal ground-fault protection fails its self-test or is compromised, the breaker will lock out and cannot be reset, ensuring the circuit remains safe.
How can I tell why the LB240-GF breaker tripped?
Leviton GFCI breakers feature intuitive LED status indicators that communicate the trip condition and type of fault. These LEDs remain illuminated even when the breaker is in the tripped position, making it easy to diagnose the issue without resetting the breaker.
How does the hydraulic-magnetic trip technology in the LB240-GF differ from standard thermal-magnetic breakers?
Unlike thermal-magnetic breakers that can be affected by extreme ambient temperatures, hydraulic-magnetic breakers operate based on current alone. This ensures precise tripping at the marked 40A rating regardless of hot or cold environmental conditions, preventing nuisance tripping.
Is the LB240GF the same as the LB240-GF?
Yes, LB240GF and LB240-GF are the exact same 40A 2-pole GFCI circuit breaker. The catalog number is often written with or without the hyphen depending on the retailer or packaging.
Can I use aluminum wire with the LB240-GF circuit breaker?
Yes, the load terminals on Leviton branch circuit breakers are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors. Always verify the specific wire gauge and torque specifications printed on the breaker or panel label before terminating.
