Product FAQs
8 answers
What level of ground fault protection does the QF240AH provide?
It provides Class A personnel protection, which is designed to trip when a ground fault current of 4 to 6 milliamps (typically rated at 5mA) is detected.
What does the H in the QF240AH catalog number indicate?
The H designates a high interrupting rating of 22kAIC. The standard version without the H suffix (QF240) has a 10kAIC rating.
What is the standard interrupting rating equivalent for this breaker?
The standard 10kAIC version of this 40A GFCI breaker is the Siemens QF240.
Can the QF240AH be installed in older ITE load centers?
Yes, Siemens QP family breakers are backward compatible with older ITE load centers that accept plug-on Q-frame breakers.
How is the neutral connection wired on this breaker?
This breaker features a pigtail neutral wire. The pigtail must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in the load center to ensure the ground fault circuitry functions correctly.
Is this breaker compatible with Siemens plug-on neutral load centers?
Yes. While it is a pigtail neutral breaker, it is UL listed for use in Siemens plug-on neutral (PON) load centers. The pigtail must be manually wired to the neutral bar.
Does this breaker include a self-test feature?
Yes, it includes an automated self-test and lockout mechanism as required by UL 943. If the breaker detects that the GFCI protection has been compromised, it will trip and lock out to prevent unsafe operation.
Can this breaker be used for spa or hot tub applications?
Yes, a 40A Class A GFCI breaker is commonly used to provide the required 5mA ground fault protection for spas, hot tubs, and other wet-location applications.
