Built to handle demanding 240V residential loads, this 50-amp breaker is ideal for electric ranges and large HVAC systems. The thermal-magnetic trip mechanism provides consistent overload protection. Crafted as an exact match for Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers, it replaces the obsolete NC250 model. The plug-on mounting style facilitates straightforward integration into legacy infrastructure. Utilizing the Type NC thin series form factor, this one-inch wide unit conserves valuable space.
What original Federal Pacific breaker does the UBIF0250N replace?
The Connecticut Electric UBIF0250N is a direct replacement for the Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok NC250 circuit breaker.
Is the UBIF0250N a thick or thin series breaker?
This is a thin-series Type NC breaker. The 2-pole body requires only 1 inch of total space in the panel, which is half the width of a standard thick-series Type NA breaker.
Are Connecticut Electric UBIF breakers safe to use in legacy FPE panels?
Yes. While original FPE Stab-Lok breakers have documented failure-to-trip issues, Connecticut Electric UBIF replacements are newly manufactured, tested to modern UL 489 standards, and ETL listed to safely restore protection in legacy load centers.
How is the UBIF0250N installed in the load center?
It uses a plug-on mounting style that snaps directly into the bus bar of compatible FPE Stab-Lok panels. No bolting or panel modifications are required.
What wire sizes are accepted by the terminals on this breaker?
The mechanical lugs are designed to accept wire gauges from 14 AWG to 6 AWG.
What types of loads are appropriate for this 50A breaker?
A 50A, 240V, 2-pole breaker is typically installed for heavy residential loads such as electric ranges, large central air conditioners, or electric heating equipment.
