Tailored for seamless integration into ReliaGear neXT power panelboards and SB switchboards, this 3-pole, 400A molded case circuit breaker offers specialized mounting. Unlike standard unit-mount models, this XT5 frame breaker features the 'Y' catalog designation, meaning it includes factory-installed plug-in line-side connectors. It provides an adjustable thermal-magnetic trip unit and a high interrupting capacity of 65kAIC at 480VAC for reliable industrial power distribution.
What equipment is designed to accept the XT5HU340ABYN000XXX breaker?
This breaker is designed for integration into modern ABB power distribution systems. It is approved for use in ABB ReliaGear neXT panelboards, ABB ReliaGear SB switchboards, and ABB SACE Tmax XT enclosures.
What does the "H" designate in the XT5H frame nomenclature?
In the ABB SACE Tmax XT series, the "H" denotes the High interrupting rating tier. For this specific 400-amp model, it guarantees short-circuit interrupting capabilities of up to 65 kAIC at 480VAC and 150 kAIC at 240VAC.
What wire sizes do the factory lugs on this XT5 breaker accept?
The standard lug terminals accommodate two wires per phase, accepting copper or aluminum conductors ranging from 2/0 AWG up to 500 kcmil. Always apply the specific torque values printed on the breaker label during termination.
How does the adjustable thermal magnetic trip unit function on this model?
The LI (Long-Time, Instantaneous) trip unit features dual mechanical adjustability. Installers can adjust the thermal dial to fine-tune continuous overload protection, and adjust the magnetic dial to set the precise instantaneous short-circuit trip threshold for the protected circuit.
Does this thermal magnetic breaker provide ground fault protection?
No. This breaker offers standard LI protection (Long-Time and Instantaneous) only. If your installation requires ground fault equipment protection (LSIG) or short-time coordination (LSI), you will need to specify an XT5 breaker equipped with an Ekip electronic trip unit instead.
Is it safe to install the XT5HU340ABYN000XXX while the ReliaGear panel is energized?
No. To prevent severe electrical shock and arc flash hazards, all upstream power to the ReliaGear neXT panelboard or SB switchboard must be completely de-energized, tested, and locked out before installing or servicing the breaker.
