Rated for an exceptional 65kAIC at 120VAC, the Siemens B115DFHH handles extreme fault currents while providing 15A dual function safety. It integrates combination arc-fault and 5mA ground-fault protection into a single commercial-grade device. The breaker mounts securely into Siemens P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 panelboards using a standard bolt-on connection. Equipped with a pigtail neutral and self-test capabilities, this B series unit delivers reliable thermal-magnetic trip performance.
What panelboards are compatible with the Siemens B115DFHH?
This bolt-on breaker is designed specifically for commercial Siemens P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 panelboards. It cannot be installed in standard residential plug-on load centers.
How is the neutral connection wired on the B115DFHH?
This breaker features a pigtail neutral. The coiled white wire must be connected to the panelboard neutral bus, while the load neutral wire connects directly to the breaker terminal. This routing is required for the dual function sensors to operate correctly.
What type of protection does this dual function breaker provide?
The dual function designation means it combines both Combination Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (CAFCI) and Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection into a single device. This meets NEC requirements for both types of protection on a 120V circuit.
How should the AFCI and GFCI protection be tested after installation?
After wiring is complete and the panel is energized, press the test button located on the front of the breaker. The unit must trip immediately to confirm that the internal safety diagnostics are functioning properly.
Can I use this bolt-on breaker in a standard Siemens residential load center?
No. Residential load centers typically require plug-on breakers such as the Q115DF. The B115DFHH has a bolt-on mounting style intended only for commercial panelboards.
Is the B115DFHH a direct replacement for standard B-frame breakers?
It can replace standard 15A 1-pole B-frame bolt-on breakers in Siemens panelboards when upgrading a circuit to require AFCI and GFCI protection, provided there is adequate gutter space for the pigtail neutral wiring.
How does the thermal magnetic trip mechanism operate on this breaker?
It utilizes a fixed thermal magnetic trip unit. The thermal element provides a long-time delay to protect against sustained overloads, while the magnetic element provides instantaneous tripping during severe short circuits.
