Product FAQs
5 answers
What enclosures and panels are compatible with the BRHX2100?
This breaker installs into standard Eaton Type BR load centers, meter breakers, and Eaton residential group metering stacks. It is frequently utilized in multi-family housing where compact group metering is required.
Why specify a BRHX series breaker instead of a standard BRH series?
The BRHX platform is engineered specifically for 3-tier series combination ratings. It allows a 65 kAIC rated main circuit breaker upstream to protect a 22 kAIC rated tenant main. This provides a compliant, cost-effective solution for multi-family group metering applications with high fault current requirements.
Can a BRH2100 be used as an alternative to the BRHX2100?
Yes, for standard 22 kAIC fully rated applications, Eaton recommends the BRH2100 as the standard alternative. However, if the project specifically requires a 3-tier series rating with a 65 kAIC upstream main in a group metering stack, the BRHX2100 must be used to maintain the UL series rating.
Is a hold-down kit required when installing this breaker?
A hold-down retainer kit, such as the BREQS125 for main lug only (MLO) load centers, is required by the NEC only if the breaker is being back-fed as a main breaker. This prevents the breaker from being accidentally removed while energized.
Is the trip unit on the BRHX2100 adjustable?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit with non-interchangeable long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions.
