Rated for 20A at 120/240VAC, the Eaton CHFEP120 combines standard overcurrent protection with a 30mA ground fault equipment protection (GFEP) circuit. It prevents damage in applications like radiant heating and de-icing equipment. Featuring a 3/4-inch plug-on mounting style, this single-pole breaker installs into Eaton Type CH load centers using a pigtail neutral. With a 10 kAIC capacity, the unit includes a visual trip flag and is both HACR and SWD rated.
Can the CHFEP120 be used to replace an older CH120EP breaker?
Yes, the CHFEP120 replaces the legacy CH120EP. The primary difference is that the updated CHFEP series includes a visual trip indicator flag to easily identify a tripped condition.
What is the ground fault trip threshold for this breaker?
This breaker has a 30mA ground fault trip threshold. It is classified as a Ground Fault Equipment Protector (GFEP) designed to protect machinery like heat trace or snow-melting equipment, rather than providing the 5mA personnel protection of a standard Class A GFCI.
Will this breaker fit in a standard BR series panel?
No, the CHFEP120 is designed exclusively for Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type CH loadcenters, which use a 3/4-inch plug-on design. It is not compatible with 1-inch BR series panels.
How is the neutral connection made on the CHFEP120?
This breaker features a pigtail neutral wire that must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in the panel to power the internal ground fault sensing circuitry.
What wire sizes are accepted by the box lugs on this breaker?
The terminals accept either a single 14 AWG to 8 AWG copper or aluminum wire, or two 14 AWG to 10 AWG copper or aluminum wires.
Is the CHFEP120 rated for switching duty and HVAC applications?
Yes, this breaker is both SWD (Switching Duty) and HACR rated. It can be used to switch 120V fluorescent lighting loads and is approved for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Customers say these breakers work perfectly and fit exactly as described. Many reviews mention the company stocks hard-to-find parts that local hardware stores don't carry. Users appreciate the competitive pricing, often noting costs are lower than big box stores. Fast shipping and delivery times consistently exceed expectations. The ordering process is described as simple and straightforward. Customers frequently mention they will use the service again and recommend it to others. One negative review cited delayed fulfillment and high return fees affecting their business operations.
Product is fine but customer service is not great!
I needed these breakers for an install - first time using the company. They said they had them in stock. Took over a week to fulfil the order and it was 11 or 12 days before I had my hands on them. Tough on my business. Then when I went return them they hit me with so many fees that I was gonna net under $30 on a $104 order. It's too bad this was my first experience with them. I'll be sure to tell my electricians and project managers to never use this company. Short sighted. They won the battle but lost the war with a potential great long term client.
