This breaker is designed specifically for Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type CH load centers. It features a plug-on mounting style and is not compatible with Type BR or other manufacturers' panels.
How much panel space does the CH340ST require?
Although it is a 3-pole breaker, the factory-installed shunt trip (indicated by the ST suffix) requires one additional pole space. Therefore, it takes up four 3/4-inch spaces (3 inches total) in a Type CH load center.
How does the shunt trip function on the CH340ST work?
The integrated shunt trip allows for remote shutdown of the circuit. When a voltage signal is sent to the shunt trip coil, it mechanically trips the breaker to disconnect all three phases simultaneously. This is commonly used for emergency stops or equipment protection systems.
Are the trip settings adjustable on the CH340ST?
No, this thermal-magnetic breaker features fixed long-time and fixed instantaneous trip functions. The trip settings cannot be adjusted in the field.
Is the Eaton CH340ST the exact same as the Cutler-Hammer CH340ST?
Yes. Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and continues to manufacture the Type CH series under the Eaton brand. The CH340ST is a direct replacement for older Cutler-Hammer models bearing the exact same catalog number.

Expedited Shipments

When our main breaker frizzed out, the option we were presented with was replacing the entire panel and service due to the type and part - no longer produced for replacement parts. It would be a $6500 replacement.
We'll likely have to do it at some point but, for now, the replacement breaker we were able to source from Superbreakers (with a $25 warranty) was $5900 less expensive. installation ran a few hundred dollars and the tech said the part looked to be in excellent condition and was prepped for install as he would have hoped.
