Yes. Eaton acquired both the Cutler-Hammer and Challenger brands. The CH3080ST is the exact same component and serves as a direct, manufacturer-approved replacement for older breakers bearing those legacy brand names.
What function does the ST suffix provide on this circuit breaker?
The ST suffix indicates a factory-installed 120V shunt trip mechanism. This allows the breaker to be opened remotely by applying a 120V AC control signal to the shunt trip coil, which is commonly used for emergency stop buttons or fire alarm system integration.
How much panel space is required to mount this shunt trip breaker?
Because of the factory-installed shunt trip mechanism, this breaker requires one additional 3/4-inch pole space in the load center. A standard 3-pole CH breaker takes three spaces, but the CH3080ST requires four total spaces.
Will this breaker fit in an Eaton BR series load center?
No. The CH3080ST features a 3/4-inch plug-on design specific to Type CH load centers. It will not fit in Eaton BR, Square D, Siemens, or GE panels.
What are the acceptable operating temperatures for the wire conductors connected to this breaker?
The box lug terminals are rated for use with either 60°C or 75°C copper or aluminum wiring.

Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.

Expedited Shipments

When our main breaker frizzed out, the option we were presented with was replacing the entire panel and service due to the type and part - no longer produced for replacement parts. It would be a $6500 replacement.
We'll likely have to do it at some point but, for now, the replacement breaker we were able to source from Superbreakers (with a $25 warranty) was $5900 less expensive. installation ran a few hundred dollars and the tech said the part looked to be in excellent condition and was prepped for install as he would have hoped.
