Description
The FDC2070 is a 70A, two-pole MCCB from Eaton's Series C F-frame lineup. It features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit with long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection. This bolt-on breaker installs into Pow-R-Line 1a/2a/3a panelboards and Series C switchboards. It includes load-side lugs and is the predecessor to the Power Defense PDG22P0070TFFJ. This F-Frame breaker is designed for use in Eaton Pow-R-Line 1a, 2a, and 3a panelboards, as well as Series C switchboards and motor control centers.
Can I install the FDC2070 in a standard residential load center?
No. This is an industrial bolt-on molded case circuit breaker. It is not compatible with standard residential plug-on load centers.
What does the FDC prefix indicate on this Series C breaker?
The FDC designation indicates it is the highest interrupting capacity version of the F-Frame series. It provides up to 200kAIC at 240VAC and 100kAIC at 480VAC, exceeding the fault current ratings of standard FD or HFD breakers.
Can the FDC2070 be used in direct current (DC) systems?
Yes. In addition to its AC ratings, this breaker is rated for up to 250VDC with a 22kA interrupting capacity.
What wire sizes are supported by the standard lugs on the FDC2070?
The included lugs accept wire gauges from 14 AWG up to 1/0 AWG. They are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors.
How is the FDC2070 secured inside the panel?
It utilizes a bolt-on connection. The breaker must be bolted directly to the busbars of a compatible panelboard or switchboard to ensure a secure electrical connection.
Can I adjust the trip settings on the FDC2070?
No. This breaker uses a thermal magnetic trip unit with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic settings. The long-time and instantaneous trip functions are factory set and cannot be modified in the field.
Is the Eaton FDC2070 the same as a Cutler-Hammer or Westinghouse FDC2070?

Expedited Shipments
