Description
Engineered for demanding environments, the FDC2080 is an 80A, two-pole MCCB from Eaton's Series C line. It utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit for precise LI protection. This bolt-on device mounts into Pow-R-Line 1a/2a/3a panelboards and Series C switchboards. It features load-side lugs and is the predecessor to the Power Defense PDG22P0080TFFJ. This F-frame breaker mounts into Eaton Pow-R-Line 1a, 2a, and 3a panelboards, as well as Series C switchboards and motor control centers.
Can the FDC2080 replace an FD2080 or HFD2080?
Yes. The FDC, HFD, and FD are all Series C F-frame breakers with identical physical dimensions. The FDC2080 is the ultra-high interrupting capacity version and can safely replace standard (FD) or high (HFD) interrupting models in the same footprint.
What does the C in the FDC prefix indicate?
The C designates the ultra-high interrupting capacity tier for Eaton Series C F-frame breakers. While standard FD and high-interrupting HFD breakers have lower AIC ratings, the FDC frame provides 100kAIC at 480VAC.
Is the FDC2080 suitable for reverse feed applications?
Yes. Eaton Series C F-frame thermal-magnetic circuit breakers do not have line and load markings, making them suitable for reverse feed or back-feeding applications. A retaining bracket or hold-down kit is required by code when back-feeding.
What wire sizes are accepted by the standard lugs on this breaker?
The standard line and load lugs accept 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum wire.
Is this breaker rated for DC voltage systems?
Yes, the FDC2080 is rated for up to 250VDC with a 22kAIC interrupting rating, making it suitable for direct current applications.
Does this breaker provide GFCI or AFCI protection?
No. This is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker with fixed long-time and instantaneous (LI) trip functions. It does not include ground fault or arc fault circuitry.
Are the line and load lugs included with the FDC2080?
Yes, the FDC2080 comes equipped with standard line and load lugs for wire termination.
Can this breaker be used for switching high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting?
No. Eaton F-frame thermal-magnetic circuit breakers are only suitable for HID use in 10A to 50A ratings. Since the FDC2080 is an 80A breaker, it is not HID rated.
Is the FDC2080 HACR rated?
Yes, all Eaton Series C F-frame circuit breakers are HACR rated for use with heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Expedited Shipments
