Can I use the Eaton HFD2045L to replace an older Westinghouse or Cutler-Hammer breaker?
Yes. Eaton acquired Westinghouse's distribution equipment division and Cutler-Hammer. The Eaton HFD2045L is a direct, backwards-compatible replacement for older Westinghouse and Cutler-Hammer breakers with the exact same catalog number.
Is this a plug-on or bolt-on circuit breaker?
The HFD2045L is a unit-mount, feed-thru circuit breaker. It does not use a plug-on or bolt-on connection to a panelboard bus.
What is the difference between FD, HFD, and FDC breakers?
These are all Eaton Series C F-frame breakers, but they have different interrupting capacities. The HFD is the high-interrupting tier, offering 65kAIC at 480VAC, while the FD is standard and the FDC is extra-high interrupting.
Can the HFD2045L be used in DC electrical systems?
Yes, this thermal-magnetic breaker is rated for DC applications up to 250VDC with a maximum interrupting rating of 22kAIC.
