The HND prefix indicates this is the high-interrupting version of the Series C N-Frame breaker. It provides a 65kA interrupting capacity at 480V AC, compared to the standard ND version which has a lower AIC rating. Both share the same physical dimensions and N-Frame accessories.
Does the HND3800T36W require a rating plug to operate?
Yes. Like all Eaton Series C N-Frame breakers with Digitrip 310 electronic trip units, this breaker requires a compatible rating plug to establish its maximum continuous current rating. The breaker will not function properly without the correct rating plug installed.
Do I need an external neutral sensor for the ground fault function to work?
An external neutral current sensor, or neutral CT, is only required if you are installing this breaker in a 4-wire system. For 3-wire systems, the internal sensors are sufficient to detect ground faults, and a separate neutral sensor is not needed.
What do the LSIG functions on the Digitrip 310 trip unit allow me to adjust?
The LSIG designation means the trip unit provides adjustable Long-Time, Short-Time, Instantaneous, and Ground Fault protection. This allows you to fine-tune the breaker time-current curve to coordinate with other protective devices in your electrical system and prevent nuisance tripping.
Can I install this 800A HND breaker in an older Cutler-Hammer switchboard?
Yes, the HND3800T36W is fully compatible with Eaton and legacy Cutler-Hammer Series C panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers designed to accept N-Frame circuit breakers.
Can the Digitrip 310 trip unit in this N-Frame breaker be replaced in the field?
No. For Eaton Series C N-Frame circuit breakers, the electronic trip unit is built in as an integral part of the breaker frame and is not field-replaceable. If the trip unit fails, the entire circuit breaker must be replaced.
Is the HND3800T36W rated for reverse feed applications?
Yes, Eaton Series C molded case circuit breakers, including the N-Frame HND series, are suitable for reverse feed use.
Is this breaker suitable for 100 percent continuous operation?

Expedited Shipments
