7 answersWhat panels are compatible with the BRH390 breaker?
It is designed for Eaton Type BR 3-phase load centers. It is also backward compatible with legacy Cutler-Hammer, Bryant, and Westinghouse panels that accept Type BR plug-on breakers. Verify your panel accepts 3-pole, 90A branch breakers before installation.
What is the difference between the BR390 and the BRH390?
The BRH390 features a higher interrupting capacity of 22 kAIC at 240V, whereas the standard BR390 is rated for 10 kAIC. Both share the same physical dimensions and plug-on footprint, but the BRH version is required in systems with higher available fault current.
Can I install the BRH390 in a standard residential single-phase panel?
No. The BRH390 is a 3-pole breaker and requires a 3-phase load center to connect to all three bus bars. It will not fit or function correctly in a standard 120/240V single-phase residential panel.
Is the BRH390 a direct replacement for legacy Westinghouse or Bryant breakers?
Yes. Eaton manufactures the Type BR line as a direct, UL-listed replacement for legacy Westinghouse, Bryant, and Cutler-Hammer BR-series breakers. The BRH390 will replace older 3-pole, 90A models while providing a 22 kAIC rating.
What wire material is compatible with the BRH390 box lugs?
The box lugs on the BRH390 are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors ranging from 4 AWG to 1/0 AWG. Always apply a listed joint compound when terminating aluminum wiring.
Does this breaker provide ground fault or arc fault protection?
No. The BRH390 is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker equipped with long-time and instantaneous trip functions for overload and short-circuit protection. It does not contain GFCI or AFCI circuitry.
Can I adjust the trip settings on the BRH390?
No. The BRH390 features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. The long-time and instantaneous trip functions are factory set for 90 amps and cannot be adjusted in the field.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
