4 answersWhat does the EPD suffix mean on the CHB250EPD?
The EPD suffix stands for Equipment Protection Device. It provides ground fault equipment protection (GFEP) with a 30mA trip threshold, designed to protect equipment like heat tracing or snow melting cables from equipment-damaging ground faults. This is different from a 5mA Class A GFCI used for personnel protection.
Will this bolt-on breaker fit in a standard Eaton CH loadcenter?
No. The CHB250EPD is a bolt-on breaker designed exclusively for Cutler-Hammer and Eaton Type PB and Type PH panelboards. Standard CH loadcenters require plug-on breakers and cannot accept bolt-on CHB frames.
How do I wire the pigtail neutral on this ground fault breaker?
The coiled white pigtail wire must be connected directly to the neutral bus bar in your PB or PH panelboard. This connection is required to power the internal 30mA ground fault sensing circuitry. The neutral from your load circuit connects directly to the designated neutral lug on the breaker.
Is the CHB250EPD interchangeable with the CH250EPD?
No. While both are 50-amp, 30mA ground fault breakers in the CH family, the CHB250EPD has a bolt-on connection for commercial panelboards. The CH250EPD has a plug-on connection for residential loadcenters.

Free Shipping Policy
