Product FAQs
7 answers
What types of enclosures or panels is the HFDE316036 compatible with?
This F-frame breaker is designed for use in Eaton Series C panelboards, motor control centers, and switchboards.
What is the difference between the FDE316036 and the HFDE316036?
The HFDE316036 is the high-interrupting version of the standard FDE316036. While the standard FDE is rated for 35kA at 480VAC, the HFDE provides a higher interrupting capacity of 65kA at 480VAC.
What does the LSIG designation mean on this breaker's trip unit?
LSIG indicates that the electronic trip unit includes adjustable settings for Long-time, Short-time, Instantaneous, and Ground-fault protection. This allows for precise coordination with other protective devices in your electrical system.
Can the continuous current rating of the HFDE316036 be adjusted?
Yes, the electronic trip unit allows you to adjust the continuous current rating below the maximum 160A frame size to match your specific load requirements.
What wire sizes are accepted by the load lugs on the HFDE316036?
The included load lugs accept copper or aluminum wire ranging from 4 AWG to 4/0 AWG.
Does this breaker come with both line and load lugs?
No, the HFDE316036 is configured for a load-side connection only. Line-side terminals are typically not included because the breaker is designed to bolt directly to the bus in a panelboard or switchboard.
Do I need a neutral sensor when installing this breaker on a 3-phase, 4-wire system?
Yes, because this breaker features ground-fault protection, a neutral current sensor is required if it is applied on a 3-phase, 4-wire system with neutral loads to ensure accurate ground-fault sensing.
