Designed for maximum current capacity, the Eaton PB32500 is a 3-pole, 2500A insulated case circuit breaker. It ensures safe power distribution across heavy-duty 600VAC industrial applications. Utilizing a sturdy busbar connection, this bolt-on MCCB installs into PB Series enclosures, panelboards, and switchboards. This legacy PB-frame breaker is specifically engineered for Eaton, Cutler-Hammer, and Westinghouse PB series enclosures, PB panelboards, and compatible switchboards. It uses a bolt-on busbar connection and cannot be installed in standard molded case panelboards.
Are Eaton, Cutler-Hammer, and Westinghouse PB32500 breakers the same?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Westinghouse electrical distribution business and integrated it into the Cutler-Hammer brand. A PB32500 breaker carrying the Westinghouse, Cutler-Hammer, or Eaton nameplate is electrically and physically interchangeable.
What is the difference between the PB32500 and the PB32500F?
The PB32500 represents the complete circuit breaker assembly, while the PB32500F catalog number designates the breaker frame only. If you are replacing a complete unit, you must ensure you have both the frame and the interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip unit.
Are cable lugs included with the PB32500 circuit breaker?
No. This breaker is factory-configured for a direct bolt-on busbar connection and does not include wire lugs. If your application requires cable terminations, you must purchase the appropriate PB-frame lug kits separately.
How do the trip functions on the PB32500 operate?
The breaker is equipped with a thermal-magnetic trip unit featuring LI (Long-Time and Instantaneous) functions. It allows licensed electricians to adjust both the thermal overload and the magnetic short-circuit response curves to coordinate with facility protection requirements.
What safety protocols are required when adjusting the thermal-magnetic trip unit?
Proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures must be strictly followed. The breaker must be completely de-energized, isolated from all power sources, and verified with a multimeter before an electrician adjusts the Long-Time or Instantaneous settings.
Can I upgrade a PB32500 to a modern Eaton Power Defense or Series C breaker?
While modern equivalents like the Power Defense PD6 or Series C RD-frame offer similar 2500A ratings, they are not direct plug-and-play replacements for the PB-frame. Installing a newer frame style into existing PB gear requires specific retrofill hardware or custom bus modifications.

Expedited Shipments
