Product FAQs

9 answers
Does this breaker replace older Cutler-Hammer Series G models?

Yes, the Eaton Power Defense PDG13M0025TFFJ is the designated replacement for legacy Series G EG-Frame breakers with matching specifications, such as the EGH3025FFG and EGH3025FFB. Note that migrating to the Power Defense platform may require updated mounting hardware.

What does the M in the PDG13M0025TFFJ catalog number signify?

In the Eaton Power Defense nomenclature, the M indicates the interrupting tier. For this Frame 1 breaker, it signifies a rating of 65kAIC at 480VAC.

Is the trip unit on this breaker adjustable?

No, this breaker features a thermal-magnetic trip unit with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic settings. If your application requires adjustable trip settings, you will need to select a model with an electronic trip unit.

What does the LI trip function code mean on this breaker?

The LI designation indicates that the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (L) protection for standard overloads and Instantaneous (I) protection for short circuits.

What wire sizes are compatible with the standard box lugs?

The included box lugs accept wire gauges ranging from 14 AWG up to 3/0 AWG. The terminals are rated for use with both aluminum (Al) and copper (Cu) conductors.

What type of equipment is this breaker designed for?

This Frame 1 molded case circuit breaker is engineered for use in Eaton Power Defense panelboards, switchboards, motor control centers, and standalone enclosures.

Can the PDG13M0025TFFJ be mounted on a DIN rail?

Yes, this breaker supports both standard panel mounting and DIN-rail mounting. However, installing it on a DIN rail requires a compatible Eaton Power Defense DIN rail adapter, such as the PDG1XDIN34P.

Is this circuit breaker suitable for DC applications?

Yes, it is rated for use in direct current circuits up to 250VDC with an interrupting capacity of 42kAIC. Note that achieving the 250VDC rating typically requires wiring two poles in series per Eaton installation guidelines.

What is the maximum fault current this breaker can safely interrupt at 240V?

When installed in a 240VAC system, the breaker provides a maximum interrupting rating of 100kAIC to safely clear severe electrical faults.
