What does the current limiting designation mean for the FCL3090?
As a current-limiting breaker, the FCL3090 clears severe electrical faults extremely fast. This reduces the let-through energy and peak current, protecting downstream equipment from thermal and magnetic stress. It provides a high interrupting capacity of 150kA at 480VAC.
What wire sizes and materials are supported by the FCL3090 lugs?
The standard lugs on the FCL3090 accept 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG wire. They are rated for both copper and aluminum conductors, providing flexibility during installation.
Is the FCL3090 a direct replacement for older Westinghouse F-frame breakers?
Yes. Eaton acquired the Westinghouse distribution equipment division, and the FCL3090 is part of the Series C F-Frame family. It directly replaces legacy Westinghouse FCL breakers with the same specifications.
Can the FDC3090 be used to replace the FCL3090?
While the FDC3090 is the modern Series C replacement for the FCL3090, it has a lower interrupting rating at 480VAC (100kAIC compared to the FCL3090 rating of 150kAIC). You must verify that your system available fault current does not exceed 100kA at 480VAC before substituting the FDC3090.
What type of trip protection does the FCL3090 provide?
The FCL3090 uses a thermal-magnetic trip unit with LI (Long-Time and Instantaneous) functions. It features fixed thermal protection for overloads and fixed magnetic protection for short circuits.

Free Shipping Policy
Parcel shipments with item value over $99 qualify for free economy shipping within the continental US. Please call to confirm special handling instructions. We do not charge a handling fee or require a minimum amount on any order. SuperBreakers does not ship on customer accounts.
Same Day Shipping

Expedited Shipments
