Restoring commercial and industrial electrical systems requires exact-fit components like this 50A three-pole breaker. It provides reliable thermal-magnetic protection for aging infrastructure. Designed specifically for Federal Pacific Stab-Lok load centers, it installs without the need for aftermarket adapters. Facility managers can use this unit to replace discontinued UBIF350N models seamlessly.
What load centers are compatible with the Federal Pacific NA350 circuit breaker?
The NA350 is designed exclusively for use in Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok load centers. It features a plug-on mounting style that fits directly into the original FPE busbar without aftermarket adapters.
Is there a modern replacement for the Federal Pacific NA350 or 3P50 breaker?
Yes. The Connecticut Electric UBIF350N is a direct, modern replacement for the original Federal Pacific NA350 and 3P50 circuit breakers. It is manufactured to fit the same Stab-Lok panels while meeting current safety standards.
Are there safety concerns associated with Federal Pacific Stab-Lok breakers?
Yes. Original Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok panels and breakers have a documented history of failing to trip during overloads or short circuits, which poses a significant fire hazard. Many electrical inspectors and insurance carriers recommend replacing the entire Stab-Lok panel rather than installing replacement breakers.
What wire sizes are accepted by the lugs on the NA350 breaker?
The terminal lugs on this 50-amp breaker accept copper or aluminum wire ranging from 8 AWG to 2 AWG. Ensure proper torque specifications are followed during installation to prevent loose connections.
What type of trip mechanism does the Federal Pacific 3P50 use?
This breaker utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip mechanism. It includes both long-time (thermal) protection for sustained overloads and instantaneous (magnetic) protection for short circuits.
Can the NA350 breaker be used on systems with high fault currents?
The NA350 has a maximum interrupting rating of 10kAIC at 240VAC. It is not suitable for applications where the available fault current exceeds 10,000 amps.
