Product FAQs
7 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the NE224020 circuit breaker?
This breaker is designed specifically for Federal Pacific NE panelboards. It utilizes a bolt-on connection and cannot be installed in Stab-Lok residential load centers.
Can this 2-pole breaker be used on a 3-phase system?
The NE224020 is a 2-pole breaker designed for single-phase 240VAC applications. It is not intended for 3-phase systems requiring 3-pole protection.
What is the frame size of the NE224020 breaker?
This breaker is built on the Federal Pacific 100-amp NE frame. While the physical frame capacity is 100 amps, this specific model is factory set with a fixed 20-amp thermal magnetic trip.
Are the trip settings adjustable on the NE224020?
No, this breaker features a fixed thermal magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time overload and instantaneous short-circuit trip points are factory set and cannot be adjusted in the field.
Can the NE224020 be used in a panel requiring a 10kAIC rating?
Yes. The NE224020 has a maximum interrupting rating of 18kAIC at 240VAC. It safely exceeds the requirements for systems specifying 10kAIC or 14kAIC protection at this voltage.
Does the NE224020 plug into the panel bus?
No, this is a bolt-on circuit breaker. It must be mechanically bolted to the busbar of a Federal Pacific NE panelboard, which provides a more secure connection than plug-on designs.
What are the terminal wire gauge limits for the NE224020?
The standard lugs on this breaker accept wire sizes from 14 AWG up to 2 AWG. Ensure your conductors are sized appropriately for a 20-amp circuit based on current electrical codes.
