Part of the legacy N-frame lineup, the Federal Pacific NF631100 provides 100 amps of reliable thermal-magnetic protection. It is designed for 3-phase commercial and industrial electrical systems requiring long-time and instantaneous trip functions. This bolt-on MCCB installs seamlessly into Federal Pacific NF panelboards. It acts as a drop-in replacement, keeping older distribution systems operational. The breaker handles up to 600VAC and features a 25kAIC rating at 240VAC.

Product FAQs
7 answers
Can I use the NF631100 in a standard Federal Pacific residential load center?
No. This is an N-frame molded case circuit breaker designed specifically for commercial and industrial Federal Pacific NF panelboards. It will not fit in residential Stab-Lok load centers.
Does the NF631100 require special mounting hardware?
Because it is a bolt-on breaker, it must be mechanically fastened to the panelboard busbars. Ensure you have the correct busbar bolts and hardware for an NF series panel, as they are not typically included with the breaker itself.
Why is the Federal Pacific NF631100 considered a legacy breaker?
Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) is no longer in business, meaning original breakers like the NF631100 are no longer manufactured. They are sourced to keep existing commercial NF panelboards operational without the need for a complete panel retrofit.
Is the NF631100 affected by the safety concerns associated with FPE Stab-Lok breakers?
The widely documented safety issues regarding Federal Pacific primarily involve their residential Stab-Lok plug-on breakers. The NF631100 is a commercial-grade, bolt-on molded case circuit breaker and is built to different industrial standards.
How should the wiring be terminated on the NF631100?
The standard lugs accept 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG wire. When terminating, verify whether the installed lugs are rated for copper only or dual-rated for copper and aluminum (AL-CU), and always torque the connections to the manufacturer specifications printed on the breaker faceplate.
Can the trip settings on the NF631100 be adjusted in the field?
No. This breaker features a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit. Both the long-time (overload) and instantaneous (short circuit) trip functions are factory set and cannot be adjusted by the installer.
Can the NF631100 be used on a 480V or 600V system?
Yes. The NF631100 is rated for use on AC systems up to 600V. However, the interrupting capacity (AIC) decreases at higher voltages. It provides 25kA at 240VAC, 18kA at 480VAC, and 14kA at 600VAC, so you must verify the available fault current at your specific system voltage.
