Product FAQs
7 answers
What type of enclosures or panels is the NJS63225 designed for?
This N-frame breaker is engineered as a drop-in replacement for legacy Federal Pacific switchboards and panelboards. It matches the original factory dimensions to allow for safe servicing of aging commercial equipment.
How are the line and load connections configured on this breaker?
This is a bolt-on breaker designed to mount directly to the panelboard bus on the line side. It comes equipped with mechanical lug terminals exclusively on the load side for outgoing circuit connections.
What distinguishes the NJS series from standard NJ frame breakers?
The NJS series features a High Interrupting Capacity construction. This provides a higher fault current rating than standard Federal Pacific NJ frame breakers while maintaining the same physical N-frame dimensions for panelboard mounting.
Can the trip curve be adjusted in the field for coordination studies?
No. This specific model utilizes a non-interchangeable trip unit with fixed thermal and fixed magnetic elements. It cannot be adjusted for custom long-time or instantaneous pickup values.
Can internal accessories be added to this N-frame breaker?
Yes, the NJS63225 supports optional internal accessories like shunt trips and auxiliary switches for remote tripping and status signaling in commercial switchboards.
What ambient temperature is the thermal trip unit calibrated for?
The thermal magnetic trip unit is calibrated for a standard 40 degrees Celsius ambient operating temperature, in accordance with UL 489 standards.
Is Federal Pacific still manufacturing the NJS63225?
Federal Pacific Electric is no longer in business. Breakers like the NJS63225 are sourced as legacy replacements to maintain existing switchboards without requiring a complete panel retrofit.
