Product FAQs

6 answers
What is the ground fault trip threshold for the THHQB2120GFEP?

This GFEP (Ground Fault Equipment Protection) breaker features a 30mA trip threshold. It is calibrated to protect machinery, such as heat tracing and industrial motors, preventing the nuisance tripping that often occurs with 5mA personnel GFCIs.

Which panelboards accept the THHQB2120GFEP breaker?

This bolt-on breaker is compatible with GE A-Series panelboards and ReliaGear lighting panelboards. It requires a bolted connection to the busbar and cannot be used in standard residential plug-on load centers like PowerMark Gold.

How do I wire the pigtail neutral on this GFEP breaker for a straight 240V load?

For 240V applications without a load neutral, the coiled white pigtail wire must still be connected to the panelboard neutral bus to power the breaker internal ground fault circuitry. The load neutral lug on the breaker is left empty in this configuration.

Can the THHQB2120GFEP be installed on a shared neutral circuit?

No. Ground fault breakers require a dedicated neutral for the protected circuit. Installing this breaker on a shared neutral (multi-wire branch circuit) will result in an immediate trip when a load is applied.

What is the difference between the THQB2120GFEP and the THHQB2120GFEP?

The THHQB version features a higher interrupting capacity of 22kAIC at 240V, making it suitable for commercial systems with higher available fault current. The standard THQB version is rated for 10kAIC. Both share the same physical footprint and bolt-on mounting.

How do I test the ground fault function after installation?

Once installed and energized, press the yellow test button on the face of the breaker. The breaker should immediately trip, moving the handle to the center position. GE recommends performing this test monthly to ensure the equipment protection circuitry is functioning correctly.
