Product FAQs

8 answers
Is the GE SGLL36BB0400 still in active production?

No. The GE Spectra RMS series is obsolete following ABB's acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions. It has been replaced by the ABB Tmax XT series. Facilities planning upgrades can replace this unit with an ABB Tmax XT5 using a specific retrofit kit.

Why might the SGLL36BB0400 arrive with ABB branding instead of GE?

ABB acquired GE Industrial Solutions in 2018. Depending on the exact production batch, Spectra RMS breakers may feature either GE or ABB branding. The physical dimensions, mounting, and performance specifications are identical regardless of the label.

Which equipment is compatible with the SGLL36BB0400?

This bolt-on breaker is engineered specifically for integration into GE Spectra Series panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers.

What internal accessories are compatible with this SG-frame breaker?

The Spectra RMS series supports universal internal accessories. Electricians can field-install components like shunt trips, undervoltage releases, auxiliary switches, and bell alarms directly into the breaker without requiring custom factory modifications.

Can the ampere rating on the SGLL36BB0400 be adjusted?

Yes. The solid-state electronic trip unit accepts field-installable, front-mounted rating plugs. This allows electricians to establish or change the breaker's operating ampere rating below its 400A maximum frame capacity.

How does this breaker connect to the electrical system?

The SGLL36BB0400 is a unit-mount, bolt-on circuit breaker. It secures directly to the busbars in compatible Spectra Series equipment using bolted connections and utilizes lug terminals for the load-side wiring.

Can the SGLL36BB0400 be reverse fed?

Yes. This Spectra RMS molded case circuit breaker is suitable for reverse-feed applications, providing flexibility for complex power distribution and generator setups.

What protection features does the LSIT trip unit provide?

The electronic trip unit delivers adjustable Long-Time, Short-Time, and Instantaneous (LSI) overcurrent protection. The T stands for Targets, which provide visual trip indicators on the front of the breaker to help identify the cause of a fault.
