Utilizing a robust thermal-magnetic trip unit, the LC26600AC is a 600A, 2-pole molded case circuit breaker. It provides reliable long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection for commercial and industrial electrical systems. This L-frame breaker mounts securely into Square D I-Line switchboards and carries a 65kAIC rating at 480VAC. When upgrading or replacing this legacy unit, the LJA36600U31X serves as the manufacturer-recommended substitute for 2-pole applications.

Product FAQs
7 answers
What type of panelboards are compatible with the LC26600AC?
This breaker is designed exclusively for Square D I-Line panelboards and switchboards. It will not fit standard QO, NQ, or NF series panels.
Can this 2-pole breaker be installed in a 3-phase I-Line panelboard?
Yes. This 2-pole breaker can be installed in a 3-phase I-Line panelboard to feed a single-phase load. It will connect to two of the three bus phases depending on its mounting position.
How does this breaker connect to the panelboard and load circuit?
It features an I-Line style plug-in connection on the line side that mounts directly to the busbar. The load side uses mechanical lugs that accept two 4/0 AWG to 500 kcmil aluminum or copper wires per phase.
What does the LI trip function indicate on this breaker?
The LI designation means the thermal-magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (L) overload protection and Instantaneous (I) short-circuit protection. The thermal element is fixed, while the magnetic trip threshold is adjustable.
Is this breaker suitable for DC voltage applications?
Yes, the LC26600AC is rated for up to 250VDC with a 10kA interrupting capacity, making it suitable for specific direct current applications in addition to its standard AC ratings.
Is the Square D LC frame still in active production?
The LC frame is a legacy molded case circuit breaker series. While original units are still sourced for exact replacements, new panelboard installations typically use the modern PowerPact L-frame series.
What safety precautions are required when terminating the load lugs?
Always verify the panel is fully de-energized before installation. Ensure the load wires are torqued to the manufacturer specifications printed on the breaker faceplate to prevent thermal failure at the 600A rating.
