Part of the QP family, the Siemens QG330 delivers 30A of thermal-magnetic protection alongside a specialized switching neutral. This 3-pole, 120/240VAC plug-on breaker is engineered to disconnect both ungrounded conductors and the neutral wire at the same time, ensuring compliance in commercial settings. It easily installs into Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate load centers, replacing the older MP330SN model. Rated at 10kAIC, it provides dependable common trip functionality and HACR ratings.
Which Siemens load centers accept the QG330 breaker?
The QG330 is approved for plug-in installation in Siemens EQ, PL, ES, and Ultimate Load Centers. Always verify the panel labeling for Q-frame compatibility prior to installation.
What wire sizes and materials are supported by the QG330 terminals?
The mechanical lugs accept 14 AWG to 6 AWG conductors and are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) wiring.
How does the LI trip function operate on this breaker?
The thermal-magnetic mechanism provides Long-Time (L) protection for sustained overloads and an Instantaneous (I) trip response to quickly clear severe short circuits.
Is it safe to install the QG330 in a non-Siemens load center?
No. Installing this breaker in a panel from another manufacturer can result in poor bus bar connections, void the UL listing, and introduce fire hazards. It must only be used in approved Siemens enclosures.
What is the purpose of the switching neutral feature on the QG330?
This breaker is required for applications where all conductors, including the neutral, must be disconnected simultaneously. The third pole safely opens the neutral circuit when the breaker trips or is manually turned off.
Can a standard 3-pole QP breaker replace the QG330?
No. While they share the same physical plug-in footprint, a standard QP breaker does not switch the neutral. The QG330 must be used when local codes require a switching neutral disconnect, such as in fuel dispensing equipment.
How is the neutral pole wired on the QG330?
The neutral pole does not connect to the energized bus bar. During installation, one side of the neutral pole is wired directly to the panel neutral bar, and the other side connects to the neutral wire of the load device.
