A drop-in solution for commercial applications, the Square D EH34025 is a 3-pole, 25A molded case circuit breaker providing long-time and instantaneous (LI) protection. Designed for legacy Square D NEHB panelboards, this plug-on breaker offers straightforward installation. The manufacturer lists the EHB34025 as a potential substitute for this discontinued frame. Rated 65kAIC at 240VAC, the unit includes Visi-Trip technology for quick fault identification and is fully HACR rated.
What panelboards are compatible with the EH34025 circuit breaker?
This breaker is designed exclusively for use in legacy Square D NEHB panelboards.
Can I install the EH34025 in a modern Square D NF or NQ panelboard?
No. The EH frame is physically incompatible with modern NF, NQ, and NQOD panelboards. It only fits NEHB series panels.
What is the difference between Square D EH and EHB circuit breakers?
Both are designed for NEHB panelboards, but they feature different mounting styles. The EH series uses a plug-on connection to the bus, while the EHB series is bolt-on.
How does the EH34025 connect to the panelboard bus?
It utilizes a plug-on connection to attach directly to the NEHB panelboard bus, eliminating the need for bolted bus connections.
What are the acceptable wire sizes for the EH34025 load terminals?
The mechanical lugs are rated for 14 to 8 AWG copper wire, or 12 to 8 AWG aluminum wire. Ensure conductors are sized appropriately for the 25A rating per NEC guidelines.
What does the 480Y/277VAC rating indicate for system compatibility?
The slash rating means this breaker is only suitable for solidly grounded wye systems where the line-to-neutral voltage does not exceed 277V and the line-to-line voltage does not exceed 480V. It is not rated for 480V ungrounded or corner-grounded delta systems.
Does the EH34025 offer adjustable trip settings for coordination?
No. This breaker features fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip elements, providing standard long-time and instantaneous protection without adjustability.
Is there a modern drop-in replacement for the EH34025?
No. Upgrading to modern EDB series breakers requires a complete NF panelboard swap. Maintaining an existing NEHB panelboard requires using legacy EH or EHB series breakers.
