Part of the classic Quicklag family, the HQNP3060 handles commercial and industrial power distribution. It mounts into vintage Westinghouse or Eaton Cutler-Hammer panelboards, eliminating the need for extensive hardware upgrades. Delivering 10kA interrupting capacity at 240V, this three-phase breaker provides essential LI (long-time and instantaneous) protection. As the original predecessor to the HQP3060, it offers a dependable solution for maintaining older electrical systems.

Product FAQs
8 answers
What panelboards are compatible with the HQNP3060 circuit breaker?
This breaker is designed for use in vintage Westinghouse and Eaton Cutler-Hammer Quicklag plug-on load centers and panelboards.
Is the HQNP3060 interchangeable with the HQP3060?
Yes. The HQNP series is the original predecessor to the current HQP series. The HQP3060 is the modern direct replacement for the HQNP3060, and both fit the same Quicklag plug-on panels.
What is the recommended tightening torque for the box lugs on this 60A breaker?
For the 14-4 AWG terminals on Eaton Quicklag breakers, the standard tightening torque is 35.4 lb-in. Always verify with the label on the breaker or panel before finalizing the installation.
Is the HQNP3060 HACR rated for use with heating and air conditioning equipment?
Yes, this breaker is HACR rated, making it suitable for group motor applications like commercial HVAC systems.
Can this breaker be used in a 120/240V system?
Yes, while it has a maximum voltage rating of 240VAC, it is fully compatible with standard 120/240V and 240V three-phase systems provided the available fault current does not exceed its 10kA interrupting capacity.
Does the HQNP3060 require mounting hardware to install?
No, the HQNP series features a plug-on mounting style that snaps directly into the bus bar of compatible Quicklag panels without the need for bolt-on hardware.
What does the LI trip function code mean on this breaker?
The LI code indicates that the thermal magnetic trip unit provides Long-Time (thermal) protection against gradual overloads and Instantaneous (magnetic) protection against short circuits.
Can I use aluminum wire with the HQNP3060?
Yes, the box lugs are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors ranging from 14 AWG to 4 AWG. Ensure proper antioxidant compound is used when terminating aluminum wiring.
