Product FAQs

8 answers
How should I size a continuous load for the Schneider Electric BJA160155?

The breaker has a 15A current rating and an 80% continuous load rating. Keep the continuous load within 80% of the rated current when sizing the circuit.

How do I check whether the interrupting rating is adequate for my circuit?

Compare available fault current with the interrupting rating at the applicable voltage: 100kA at 240VAC, 65kA at 480Y/277VAC, 25kA at 600Y/347VAC, or 50kA at 125VDC. Select a rating that meets or exceeds the available fault current.

How do the AC and DC voltage ratings guide selection?

The voltage ratings are 600Y/347VAC and 125VDC. For AC selection, match both the circuit voltage and the wye system configuration; for DC selection, use the DC rating.

Can I adjust the overload or short-circuit trip settings?

The thermal and magnetic trip settings are fixed. Thermal-magnetic protection responds to sustained overloads through the thermal element and short-circuit currents through the magnetic element, so select it for applications that do not require adjustable trip settings.

What conductors can I terminate at the load-side lug?

The load-side lug accepts copper or aluminum conductors from 14 AWG through 2/0 AWG. Choose a conductor within that range and size it for the circuit load and installation requirements.

What does the HACR rating mean for equipment selection?

HACR means heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Use the HACR rating when selecting a circuit breaker for equipment that calls for this feature.

What temperature range should I account for during installation?

The operating temperature range is -25 to 70 °C. Account for temperatures at the installed location so operating conditions remain within that range.

What dimensions should I use when planning the installation layout?

The breaker is 5.39 in high, 1.06 in wide, and 3.5 in deep. Use these dimensions to plan the space occupied by the breaker and the surrounding conductor routing.
