Built for circuit protection, the General Electric THHQL2120PGFT miniature circuit breaker features GFCI protection. It is rated 20A with 2 poles, 120/240VAC operation and a 22kAIC interrupting rating. This Q-Line, THHQL series breaker uses plug-on mounting, plug-in terminal connections and thermal magnetic tripping. It has a single circuit arrangement, with neutral connection not applicable. Dimensions are 4.5 in high, 3 in long and 2.5 in wide.
How should I use the 20A rating when selecting the General Electric THHQL2120PGFT?
The 20A rating is the breaker’s current rating, not its fault-interrupting capacity. Use it when coordinating the circuit load and conductor ampacity with the required overcurrent protection.
What does the 120/240VAC rating mean for circuit selection?
The breaker is rated for 120/240VAC applications. Match this voltage rating to the circuit’s AC system voltage when selecting protection.
How does the 22kAIC interrupting rating guide selection?
The 22kAIC rating describes the breaker’s ability to interrupt short-circuit current. Compare the available fault current at the installation point with this rating when selecting the breaker.
What protection does the GFCI feature add?
GFCI protection detects an imbalance between outgoing and returning current and trips to reduce electric-shock risk. Select this feature where the circuit requires ground-fault protection for people.
How does the thermal-magnetic trip protect the circuit?
The thermal element responds to sustained overloads, while the magnetic element responds rapidly to high short-circuit currents. This provides overcurrent protection in addition to the breaker’s GFCI function.
Is this a single-pole breaker or a two-pole breaker for one circuit?
It is a two-pole breaker with a single-circuit arrangement. Choose it when the circuit design calls for protection across two poles, rather than treating it as two separate single-pole circuits.
What connection methods should I plan for during installation?
The breaker uses plug-on mounting and a plug-in terminal connection. Installation planning should account for both the mounting interface and the electrical connection method.
What dimensions should I use for installation layout?
Use a height of 4.5 in, length of 3 in and width of 2.5 in when planning the physical layout. These dimensions help establish the breaker’s space requirements during installation planning.
