Product FAQs
6 answersWhich load centers are compatible with the CHT1515 tandem breaker?
The CHT1515 is designed exclusively for Eaton and Cutler-Hammer Type CH load centers. It will not fit in Type BR or other manufacturers' panels due to its specific 3/4-inch plug-on design.
How much panel space does the CHT1515 require?
This tandem breaker provides two independent 15-amp circuits while occupying only a single 3/4-inch space in your load center, making it ideal for adding circuits to a crowded panel.
Can the CHT1515 be installed in any slot within a Type CH panel?
It depends on your panel. Tandem breakers like the CHT1515 are CTL (Circuit Total Limiting) devices and can only be installed in panel slots specifically notched to accept twin breakers. Check your load center's wiring diagram for tandem compatibility.
Can I use the CHT1515 for a 240V circuit?
No, the CHT1515 provides two independent 120V circuits from the same phase leg. It cannot be used to supply a 240V load or a multi-wire branch circuit that requires a common trip.
Does the CHT1515 provide ground fault or arc fault protection?
No, the CHT1515 is a standard thermal-magnetic breaker. If your circuit requires GFCI or AFCI protection to meet current National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, you will need a different breaker series, such as CHGF or CHCAF.
Is the Eaton CHT1515 the same as a Cutler-Hammer CHT1515?
Yes, Eaton acquired Cutler-Hammer and continues to manufacture the Type CH line under the Eaton brand. The CHT1515 is the exact same component regardless of which brand name is printed on the label.
