Product FAQs
7 answers
Is the Schneider Electric M9F21205 rated as a branch circuit breaker?
No, the M9F21205 is part of the Multi9 C60SP series, which is recognized as a UL 1077 supplementary protector. It is not a UL 489 branch circuit breaker and must be used with appropriate upstream branch protection.
What is the trip curve for the M9F21205 miniature circuit breaker?
This breaker features a B-curve thermal magnetic trip profile. For AC networks, it is designed to trip instantaneously at 3.2 to 4.8 times the 5A rated current, making it ideal for sensitive equipment and control circuits with low inrush currents.
How is the M9F21205 circuit breaker installed in a control panel?
It is designed for tool-free installation on a standard 35mm DIN rail. The modular clip-on mounting allows it to be easily integrated into OEM control panels and DIN rail enclosures alongside other Multi9 components.
Can I add auxiliary contacts or shunt trips to the M9F21205?
Yes, the Multi9 C60SP series supports field-installable electrical accessories. You can add auxiliary contacts, fault indicating contacts, shunt trips, and undervoltage releases to the left side of the breaker without requiring special tools.
What is the difference between the C60SP and C60BP series breakers?
The C60SP series, including the M9F21205, are UL 1077 supplementary protectors. The C60BP series are UL 489 listed for branch circuit protection. You cannot substitute a C60SP for a C60BP if your application requires a UL 489 branch breaker.
Is the M9F21205 suitable for direct current (DC) applications?
Yes, this breaker is rated for both AC and DC networks. When used in DC applications, it has a magnetic tripping limit of approximately 5.7 times the rated current and provides up to a 10kA interrupting rating at 125VDC.
Does the M9F21205 provide positive contact indication for safe isolation?
Yes, it features a green strip on the toggle that guarantees physical contact opening. This positive contact indication ensures the circuit is safely isolated for downstream maintenance and operations.
