Siemens phased out the Murray brand and officially replaced the MP2100 with the Siemens Q2100. The Q2100 is the UL-listed, exact physical and electrical equivalent for this 100A 2-pole breaker.
Can I install this Murray MP2100 breaker in a modern Siemens load center?
Yes. Siemens acquired Murray and has officially cross-listed their breakers. The Murray MP2100 is interchangeable with Siemens QP breakers and is UL-listed for use in Siemens PL and ES series load centers, as well as legacy Murray Rock Solid panels.
What is required if I use the MP2100 as a back-fed main breaker?
When installing this 100A breaker as a back-fed main in a subpanel or load center, the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires a breaker retainer clip. You must use the Siemens ECMBR2 hold-down kit to secure the breaker to the bus bar.
Does this breaker require a specific mounting hardware kit for standard branch circuit installation?
No. For standard branch circuit use, the MP2100 features a plug-on design that snaps directly onto the panel bus bar without additional mounting hardware. A hold-down kit is only required if it is being used as a back-fed main.
Is the MP2100 suitable for use with aluminum wiring?
Yes, the lugs on this breaker are rated for both copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) conductors. When terminating aluminum wire, ensure you apply a listed joint compound to prevent oxidation.
