Serving as a robust 100A solution, the MURRAYC2100 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from Siemens. It delivers thermal-magnetic protection for 120/240V applications. Engineered for compatibility, it installs into legacy Murray load centers and modern Siemens panels. It acts as a direct replacement for older units and crosses to the Q2100. With a 10kAIC rating and Insta-Wire technology, this plug-on breaker ensures a secure fit for main or heavy branch circuits.
Can the Murray MP2100 be installed in a Siemens load center?
Yes. Siemens acquired Murray and officially cross-listed these product lines. The MP2100 is UL listed for use in both legacy Murray load centers and compatible Siemens panels that accept Type MP-T or Type QP breakers.
What is the active Siemens replacement for the discontinued Murray MP2100?
Siemens has phased out the Murray brand. The direct, UL-listed modern equivalent for the MP2100 is the Siemens Q2100, which is a Type QP circuit breaker.
Does the MP2100 provide common-trip functionality?
Yes. As a 2-pole thermal-magnetic breaker, it features an internal common trip. An overcurrent or short circuit on either phase will force both poles to trip simultaneously, ensuring complete disconnection of the 240V circuit.
What are the wiring requirements for the MP2100 terminal lugs?
The lugs accept 8 AWG to 2/0 AWG conductors and are dual-rated for copper or aluminum wire. When using aluminum conductors, an approved oxide-inhibiting joint compound should be applied prior to termination.
Is the MP2100 HACR rated for HVAC applications?
Yes, Type MP-T breakers like the MP2100 are HACR rated. This makes the 100A breaker suitable for protecting heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment circuits that require a 100A disconnect.
Will this breaker fit in older Murray panels manufactured before 2002?
Yes. While Siemens issued a UL compatibility letter for panels made after January 2002, the MP2100 is an original Murray Type MP-T breaker. It serves as the exact OEM replacement for older Murray load centers that specify Type MP-T breakers on their internal wiring diagram.
What does the LI trip function code mean on the MP2100?
The LI designation indicates that this thermal-magnetic breaker provides both Long-Time (thermal) protection against sustained overloads and Instantaneous (magnetic) protection against short circuits.
